Engaging and empowering creation can flourish at the intersection of art and technology. This category can encompass new interpretations of what art is, or innovative ways to create or understand it; it can extend to ways that art can develop understanding in other fields, or make the production of art more inclusive. The freedom with the innovation in this category is as broad as art itself, but entries in this category typically relate to:

- Acknowledging the cultures of yourself and others, and
- Creating a deeper understanding of art and culture
Technology impacts our culture in fundamental ways. The challenge for CIC participants is to come up with projects that do so in ways that are beneficial and intentional.

This category encompasses innovations that benefit the amateur or professional athlete, the experience of fans, the sports industry, and the world of Esports. In general, entries in this category fall into one of three sub-categories, each with their own focuses:
